East Rutherford Team
Cushman & Wakefield’s East Rutherford, New Jersey office is home to the New York Tri-State leading retail investment sales team. The team specializes in the disposition of retail properties for institutions, advisors, private investors, and developers.
The team was founded in 1987 by two partners and has grown to 15 people collectively, having diverse backgrounds in finance, syndication, banking, market research, and leasing brokerage; intimately supported by C&W global platform. The territory covers Northern New Jersey, Long Island, Upstate, Central, and Westchester County New York, and Southern Connecticut.

Andrew J. Merin, a Vice Chairman of C&W, heads the Metropolitan Area Capital Markets Group. He has served as a member of the firm’s Board of Directors and as a member of the Audit Committee. Mr. Merin joined C&W in 1983 and subsequently joined the Investment Sales Group in 1987 after a 17-year career as an office leasing transaction specialist.

David W. Bernhaut is a Vice Chairman of the Metropolitan Area Capital Markets Group. He has been with the Capital Markets Group for 27 years. He is responsible for real estate investment service activities including the marketing of corporate and investment property in the suburban New York Metropolitan area. David is also a member of the firm’s 401K advisory committee and National Office Advisory Group.

Gary Gabriel serves as Executive Managing Director of the Metropolitan Area Capital Markets Group. As one of four partners on a 15-member team, Mr. Gabriel is responsible for managing, underwriting and marketing investment properties for sale in the suburban markets surrounding New York City. His clients include pension fund advisors, REITs and a range of domestic and foreign private investors. Gary is a member of the Capital Markets Advisory Board and the firm’s Industrial Advisory Group.

Brian Whitmer serves as Senior Director of the Metropolitan Area Capital Markets Group. Mr. Whitmer is responsible for managing, underwriting, and marketing investment properties for sale and arranging joint ventures in the suburban markets surrounding New York City. Brian is member of the retail investment advisory group.

Seth Pollack is responsible for managing, underwriting and marketing investment properties in the markets surrounding the city of New York. He focuses on multi-tenant retail assets primarily.

Max Helfman serves as a Financial Analyst of the Metropolitan Area Capital Markets Group. He is responsible for the underwriting and marketing of investment properties for sale in the suburban markets surrounding New York City, with a primary focus on multi-tenant retail assets.
